14. LYNNE BROWN ARTIST
Lynne has been painting seriously for many years now, and has had consistent sales, both from overseas, national and local clients.
She paints intuitively, using layers of mainly translucent acrylic paints and often finds herself deleting and reapplying areas until the piece speaks for itself and finds it’s own narrative.
Lynne is always drawn to landscapes, both overseas and in New Zealand, which is in her opinion, unbeatable. She is attracted to the colours of the sky, sea and land but likes them to capture the ‘feel’ of a place rather than an realistic rendition, keeping the finished product ethereal. The additon of little references such as buildings or trees accentuate the grandeur of a scene which helps viewers relate to a piece and transistions realism into abstraction.

From the age of 7 Dorothy Armstrong has had a love affair with clay and took every opportunity to increase her pottery knowledge. She loves to make sculptures inspired by the life around her; on the farm by the sea at Maketu where she lived for 35 years and now in the bush and by the Waimapu River where she now lives in Tauranga. The birds , animals and fish are her specialty with much of her work being raku fired. "It's the speed of firing and the often unexpected, brilliant results that are possible" Dorothy is well represented by galleries and often creates pet sculptures on commission.
